Butterfly Garden In Singapore Changi Airport
I’m live-blogging my SAS EuroBonus SkyTeam Milion Mile challenge this week. Click here for background and route information.
The Butterfly Garden in Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) was such a treat for my 8-year-old son and one of the many things that makes Changi a leading airport of the world.
A Visit To The Butterfly Garden – Singapore Changi Airport
After arriving from Ho Chi Minh City on Vietnam Airlines, we had a few hours before it was time to board our next flight. I know that left time to visit Jewel or even go into Singapore, but I thought rather than going through passport control and security, we’d stay airside and visit the Butterfly Garden before hitting the lounge.
Put simply, the 24/7 Butterfly Garden is a small tropical habitat with over 1,000 butterflies from 40 different species. It is located in Terminal 3, free of charge to visit, and open 24/7 (though optimal viewing time is during daylight hours).
This beautiful element of SIN is like stepping into a tropical rainforest and the flowers, greenery, and waterfall are all nicely done.
Augustine loved it…he could not get enough of it and was over the moon when a butterfly landed on his hand.
We saw in the nick of time, because not long after our visit a torrential afternoon rain began and it rained for the next hours.
Thankfully there was a playground as well…
If you’re transiting Singapore, you don’t even have to leave the secure side of the airport to enjoy yourself…there is plenty to do without leaving, including the Butterfly Garden.
