Delta Air Lines Downgrades Man So “Service” Dog Could Have Its Own First Class Seat…
A man claims that he lost his first class seat after Delta Air Lines said it was needed for an oversized “service” dog…
First Class Outrage: Man Downgaded For “Service” Dog On Delta Air Lines
A passenger shared on reddit–with the photo evidence above–about an incident on his recent Delta flight:
“I got upgraded to first [class] this morning, only to 15 mins later get downgraded (to a worse seat than I previously had). I asked the desk agent what was going on and she said ‘something changed.’
“Okay, fine, I am disgruntled but whatever, I then board only to see this dog in my first class seat … And now I’m livid.”
He called Delta to complain but was told “you may be relocated for service animals.” He wonders, “What’s the point of being loyal to this airline anymore?” and I cannot blame him. Delta has since said it is looking into the incident:
“Delta teams are aware of the customer complaint and are researching the details of what may have occurred. Service animals are routinely accommodated on Delta without impacting customer seat assignments.”
You can’t make this stuff up, can you? I am of the opinion that if you need more than one seat, you buy it, and before that man was upgraded, the dog and its owner should have been downgraded to economy class. Oh, it’s a cute dog…but we’ve reached a certain level of insanity when SkyMiles Medallion flyers can get bounced from first class because the dog needs extra space…
Here’s a thought: keep the dog at home or stay home with your dog…and keep your filthy shoes off the bulkhead wall!
I may not have much hope for the next administration, but maybe it can do a few good things like reigning in the abuse of service animals by empowering airlines to restrict access to and penalize abusers, especially the prima-donnas who accessorize their Lululemon outfits and designer handbags with a little “support” doggy using “service animal” vests purchased on Amazon.
As one redditor noted, “Notice how nowhere else in life do you see this quantity of service animals? Go to the airport and all of a sudden, they appear…”
Okay, regular readers know how cranky I get with topics like this…I’ll stop. But if the man really was downgraded for a dog, what do you think about this incident?
