Epic: Shake Shack Cheeseburger On Delta Air Lines

I’ve written before about the Shake Shake cheeseburgers on Delta Air Lines, but finally had a chance to try one and can unequivocally declare it was the best burger I’ve ever had on an airplane.
Taste Test: Shake Shack Cheeseburger On Delta Air Lines
I’ve enjoyed many delicious burgers on planes over the years and am fairly easy to please in that regard. Even so, I found the Shake Shack cheeseburger on my recent Delta flight from Seattle (SEA) to Chicago (ORD) to be sublime (well, as sublime as a burger can be).
The Shake Shack cheeseburger features a 100% Angus beef patty, topped with cheese and served on a toasted potato bun. You can then customize your “ShackBurger” with toppings like tomato, lettuce, and Shake Shack’s famous ShackSauce, all served on the side. The meal also features chips and a dark chocolate brownie (it used to feature a Caesar salad as well, but Delta cut that).

It may not have been as beautiful as the stock photos, but this was a very satisfying burger (making me thankful I did not stuff myself in the lounge before the flight).
Delta does not offer mixed nuts or a salad with any entree, which I find lacking compared to American Airlines and United Airlines, but this was such a delicious dish and one that I would not hesitate to order again (though I love the short ribs on Delta too).
You can pre-order this burger in first class flights from:
- Atlanta (ATL)
- Boston (BOS)
- Los Angeles (LAX)
- Minneapolis (MSP)
- New York-LaGuardia (LGA)
- Seattle (SEA)
(it is available on flights over 900 miles during lunch and dinner hours)
Crack all the jokes you want about my poor tastes, but this burger was epic and I think Delta is winning the airline burger wars right now. I actually think Delta could pull off French Fries onboard (Cathay Pacific certainly does) and would love to see that in the future. For now, the chips are fine and the burger is very delicious.

Each week, my Meal of the Week feature examines an airline meal from my travels over the years. This may be a meal from earlier in the week or it may be a meal served over a decade ago.
