Pretzel Beer Cheeseburger On United Airlines: Always A Safe Bet
While the “Italian Sub Sandwich” was not for me, the “Pretzel Beer Cheeseburger” was a very satisfying choice on United Airlines…but be sure to grab extra wipes as you board the plane.
Taste Test: Pretzel Beer Cheeseburger On United Airlines
I’ve been doing more domestic economy class flights lately…I find the premium for business class on sub-six-hour flights difficult to justify for personal travel and upgrades are simply not happening any longer, even as a Premier 1K.
When I fly on United, I receive one free food and beverage item from the buy-on-board menu thanks to my 1K status. Last time, I tried the “Italian Sub Sandwich” and regretted it, so this time I went back to the cheeseburger, a long-term staple on the buy-on-board menu, though the bun and cheese type tends to rotate every month. This month, a “pretzel beer cheeseburger” is available:
Pretzel Beer Cheeseburger
Pretzel bun with pale ale white cheddar beer cheese, beef patty, bacon, and a mild cheddar.
Two words: delicious + messy.
What’s not to like about a pretzel bun, fatty beef patty, melted cheese, and bacon? Now granted, I had been fasting for 17 hours when I dove into it, but I inhaled it…my seatmates, an older couple, laughed and said, “Wow, that must be some cheeseburger!”
Yes, it’s the ultimate comfort food and just cannot go wrong with it.
But it was dripping with grease… absolutely dripping. By the time I finished, my hands were so nasty and the napkin I provided does not get the grease out.
Come Prepared With Wipes…
Thankfully, I was prepared. As you board the aircraft, United offers you wipes…it’s an expense that Unties justifies in that their internal data shows passengers appreciate the intial interaction with flight attendants, raising customer satisfaction scores. I grab two when boarding, especially when I know I’ll be eating onboard. Those alcohol-laden wipes do a great job of getting the grease off your fingers.
Do try the cheeseburger on United, but make sure you have wipes before…
