Two American Woman Brawl On British Airways Flight Over MAGA Cap
Two female passengers, both US citizens, were tossed off a British Airways flight after engaging in a brawl, purportedly over a MAGA hat, as tensions over the upcoming US presidential election, now less than a week away, grow sky high.
Woman Brawl Over MAGA Hat On British Airways Flight To Texas
The incident occurred on Monday, October 28, 2024, onboard British Airways flight BA191 from London (LHR) to Austin (AUS). Fellow passengers observed the skirmish begin in the gate area of Terminal 5, where one woman confronted another for wearing a MAGA hat (MAGA meaning “Make America Great Again,” a slogan of the Donald Trump campaign).
It must not have been too violent because both were permitted to board…and found themselves sitting in the same premium economy class cabin, what British Airways calls World Traveller Plus.
The fight continued and it got physical, with obscenities also thrown at one another. Blows were exchanged and the woman had to be separated. Police were summoned by the captain and removed them. Even as they were being led off the aircraft, they continued to curse at one another.
Although both calmed down, it was determined they were both unfit to fly because of the risk they would fight again once the plane took off.
At least as of yet, there are no pictures or video of the incident.
A police spokesperson explained:
“Shortly after 12:45pm on Monday, 28 October, police at Heathrow were made aware of an incident involving two women waiting to board a plane in Terminal 5. A woman in her 40s and a woman in her 60s made counter allegations of affray. Enquiries are ongoing.”
Meanwhile, British Airways apologized for the delay, stating, “We apologized to our customers for the delay and got them on the way as quickly as possible.”
Handling the incident on the ground made sense, even if they both did calm down and potentially saved British Airways and the passengers onboard a lot of stress and cost had a diversion been required. The flight was still delayed two hours. While the women were not arrested, it is not clear how they made it home.
