United Airlines Bans “Tandoori Karen” After Racist Tirade Against Indian-American Family

United Airlines has reportedly banned a woman from future travel on “the Friendly Skies” after a not-so-friendly racist encounter with an Indian-American family at Los Angeles International Airport.

“Tandoori Karen” Rages Against Insidan-Americans At Los Angeles International Airport After United Airlines Flight

A United flight from Cancun (CUN) to Los Angeles (LAX) landed at LAX after the closure of the Terminal 6 immigration facility, forcing a bus ride to the Tom Bradly International Terminal for passport control and US customs. It was on that bus that a woman became irritated by some kids she felt were making too much noise. She told them to “shut up” and the father took offense, telling her not to speak to his children that way.

Her response:

“Your family is from India, you have no respect for the rules, you think you can push everyone… that’s what you think you are. You guys are f*cking crazy.”

She then said, “I’m an American. You’re not.” She was corrected that the Indian-American family was American too, but she disagreed, stating,  “Not originally.” Incensed that she was being recorded, she began recording herself and warned, “I’m going to record your f*cking tandoori a**… your tandoori stinky a**!” while sticking up her middle finger.

(hence the name Botox Tandoori Karen…)

A supervisor boarded the bus and the Indian-American family complained, as did others onboard, about the woman. She stepped off the bus to defend herself and another passenger took a moment to explain to the United supervisor that the woman was acting like she was intoxicated and using foul and racist language.

We later our told the woman was banned from United Airlines. Here’s the video:

Do some Indians Americans have no respect for the rules and think they can push everyone? Sure. The same could be true of citizens of any country. It becomes racist when you reduce a whole race or nationality to being loutish.

It sounds like the woman was drunk, but it is in an inebriated state that the truth…the deep truth…often comes out.

Even if the children were total brats, you don’t engage them…you engage their parents if necessary. And you certainly don’t make gross generalizations about a whole group of people based on the actions of one or two (and for all we know here, the kids may have been well-behaved).

CONCLUSION

Yes, keep your children well-behaved (and parents know that is sometimes easier said than done, especially when they are put on a bus after a long flight). But even more importantly, don’t make a fool out of yourself by uttering gross generalizations about a group of people. Right, left, or center, it’s a horrible look. I am glad this was captured on video so she can be held accountable for expressing such disgusting rhetoric in public.
