Royal Jordanian Adds DFW-Amman Route, Unveils New Luxe 787-9 Business Class
Royal Jordanian is strengthening its longhaul strategy with a two-pronged announcement this week, though only one was deliberate; the other may have been inadvertent. As hinted at in 2024, the Jordanian flag carrier will launch new nonstop flights between Amman and Dallas/Fort Worth. But in addition, the surprising early reveal of its new business class cabin. That’s a double dose of good news.
Royal Jordanian Adds DFW Route—And Drops Clues About A New 787-9 Business Class
Starting next year, you can jet off to Jordan from Texas…nonstop. Royal Jordanian will launch nonstop service from Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) to Amman, Queen Alia International (AMM), beginning May 10, 2026.
- RJ291 – dep Amman (AMM) – Dallas (DFW) dep 10:40 am arr 5:05 pm
- RJ292 – dep Dallas (DFW) – Amman (AMM) dep 10:55 pm arr 8:00 pm+1
Flights will operate on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The new route (thanks to Brad for giving me a sneak peek of the new route) is not a surprise. Last year, the carrier announced its intention to add new flights to:
- Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW)
- Miami (MIA)
- Los Angles (LAX)
(in that order)
Nearly a year later, the DFW route announcement has long been anticipated.
This marks the carrier’s longest nonstop route to date and the first direct link between North Texas and the Levant. Flights will operate four times weekly using Dreamliner 787-8 aircraft in a 24-seat business and 246-seat economy configuration. I’ve reviewed that aircraft here.

DFW makes perfect sense: a major oneworld hub with connections beyond, ideal for reaching the western United States. The 787-8’s current “Crown Class” is dated, but I suspect this new route will perform well, especailly if RJ offers competitive fares to Amman and beyond.
Plus: A Sneak Peek at Royal Jordanian’s New Business Class
As I say often, flying isn’t just about where you go, it’s also about how you get there. In what appears to be an unintended reveal, DFW, while announcing the new route, posted an image on Instagram of Royal Jordanian’s upcoming 787-9 business class cabin… an image that Royal Jordanian itself has never released. The photo shows a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone layout, likely the Collins Aerospace Elements seats, matching elite-level premium cabins. Ironically, this aircraft is not scheduled for the Dallas route, but this business class product will usher in a new era of luxury for Royal Jordanian.

CONCLUSION
Starting in May 2026, Royal Jordanian plans to launch 4x-weekly flights between Dallas-Fort Worth and Amman. The new route will augment service to other US routes including:
- Chicago (ORD)
- Detroit (DTW)
- New York (JFK)
- Washington (IAD)
Miami and Los Angeles are next, but Dallas is now official.
Perhaps unofficially, though, the carrier revealed its new business class seat, which looks great. When RJ makes it official, I’ll do a separate post on the new seat details.
