A Gluttonous Taco Feast In Mexico City
Goodness, I should have eaten more slowly…but to feast on tacos in Mexico City is one of the great pleasures of life.
Mexico City Tacos
After arriving in Mexico City, the Uber ride to our hotel, the Hyatt Regency, took over an hour. After leaving our things, Augustine and I headed out for dinner.
Now, last time I was in Mexico City I enjoyed the most delicious vegan tacos at a place called Por Siempre (C. Manzanillo 18, Roma Nte.).
But that was a bit of a distance from the hotel, so instead we walked to a very popular place called La Casa del Pastor (A. Musset 3, Polanco).
Just after being seated, a tray of salsas was brought over…every one was delicious (most were hot for this Gringo…) and by the time dinner was over, there was very little left.
I ordered a pair of beef tacos, chicken tacos, chorizo tacos, and pork tacos to start…one for each of…and a cheese quesadilla for me.
So, so good!
We should have stopped there, but I was still feeling hungry so we ordered two steak tacos, two Birria tacos, and a chicken quesadilla.
By the time we polished those off, we were truly stuffed…
Note to self: eat slowly, even when you are ravenously hungry. I’m generally very good at moderating my food intake so as not to have that uncomfortable feeling of having eaten too much, but I failed here…the tacos were too good and we both inhaled them.
You could say it was criminal to spend 60 USD on tacos and quesadillas in Mexico City…and yes, I’ve spent 5 USD for delicious meals in the past…but it was late and we loved it.
Can you find better pricing elsewhere? Of course…but the menu here is great, service is excellent, and the food is delicious.
As penance, we walked back to the hotel (about 15 minutes away) instead of taking Uber….
I’m on the final portion of my SAS Million Mile Bonus trip, with a quick trip to Mexico that I’m sharing about real-time style.
