Coffee Pot: My Visit To Bill Maher And Woody Harrelson’s WeHo Cannibis Café

I stumbled upon a coffee shop in West Hollywood yesterday called Cafe Woods owned by Bill Maher and Woody Harrelson…how would the coffee measure up?

Coffee At Cafe Woods in WeHo – Coffee, Not Cannabis, Please!

Regular readers know I am a big fan of Bill Maher…I think his “old school” liberalism often strikes the right balance and while I appreciated Larry David’s response to his White House dinner with Donald Trump, I like that he is willing to sit down and talk with anyone and that he is truly for free speech…not just when it suits his worldview.

Maher opened a pot shop in West Hollywood with Woody + Laura Harrelson and John McEnroe in 2022. I was aware of it, but not really thinking about it when I stopped for coffee yesterday after my haircut.

The closest coffee shop was a place called “Cafe Woods” and it looked good to me: La Marzocco machine and cortado on the menu.

But it dawned on me when I stepped inside…oh, this is Bill Maher’s place. Indeed, the pot shop and lounge was connected and there was this picture on the wall:

I didn’t know Maher had a coffee shop too…and a real coffee shop, not what the Dutch call coffee shops…

Apparently, this place was the Holy Water Bar and was taken over by The Woods earlier this year. It’s a nicely decorated café.

Folks, I’ve never smoked pot in my life and I have no interest in ever smoking pot or consuming any type of recreational drug. Furthermore, I hate the smell of pot…so I stayed inside the café rather than taking my coffee out to the lounge where smoking is permitted.

But the cortado was good. I’m not a huge fan of La Colombe coffee, but this was a respectable blend and the La Marzocco machine can bring out the best in most coffees.

So yes, coffee in West Hollywood at the pot shop. How cliché LA.
