A Frontier Airlines captain has sparked fierce debate after wearing a bright red Trump hat while in uniform at Los Angeles International Airport.

Frontier Captain Was Wrong To Wear Trump Hat

A passenger traveling from Los Angeles (LAX) to Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW) snapped the picture above and posted it along with his thoughts on Threads:

He added, “I don’t care which side of the aisle you’re on, wearing political merch while captaining a commercial airliner is unprofessional. I used to work for an airline, and this is absolutely unacceptable. Saw this on my flight from LAX to DFW yesterday. Passengers deserve a neutral, professional space.”

And I would agree.

I’ve been remarkably consistent on this issue over the years: no matter the message, no matter the political slant, you leave it at home.

That includes MAGA hats. That includes BLM pins. It includes pet projects left, right, and center from the spectrum of fascist to communist. I condemned a United pilot for going on an antisemitic rant as well. Pilots should leave their personal politics at home, both on their uniform and proceeding from their mouths.

A uniform is meant to promote a uniform (i.e. the same) look. I have no interest in flight attendants or pilots expressing individuality: I want them to promote their company by offering a safe flight with excellent service. The only pins that should be worn are nametags, wings, and language designations. The only hats a pilot should wear are their company-issued hates.

This guy was out of line, especially in a country that is highly-divided, and I’d say the same thing if he was wearing an anti-Trump hat. Most of all, he’s out of line for not wearing his uniform properly.

To the captain: leave your hat at home and focus on the flying. Frontier needs all the business it can get and it does not need you to tick off folks for your partisan hat.
