Denmark is an underrated culinary destination and I was elated to find delicious and authentic Mexican food in Copenhagen at a restaurant called La Neta.

Best Mexican Food In Copenhagen

I try “Mexican” food around the world, often for sport, but rarely do I find excellent Mexican food or Tex-Mex outside of North America. But when my friends asked me what I wanted for dinner and I suggested Mexican food, they knew just the place…and it did not disappoint.

La Neta is in the trendy Vestberbro neighborhood in the city center (though I think most of Copenhagen is upscale by now). The place was packed and there are no reservations, but we managed to find table in the back.

I tried a five taco combo, including:

  • bistec (roast beef)
  • pastor (marinated pork with pineapple)
  • tinga (pulled chicken with chiplote)
  • carnitas (slow-roasted pork)
  • porotbello (with a pork marinade)

My friends had a eausdeilla and grilled vegetable taco.

The guacamole was excellent and I loved that there was a salsa bar and that every salsa was delicious–it tasted so authentic…like I was in Mexico City. Be warned: some of the salsas are very spicy.

It was a bit too nippy on the last day of March to eat outside, but I’m sure it is quite pleasant during the warmer months.

This was truly a treat…the sort of place I would go to in Los Angeles. I love Copenhagen for many things and now great Mexican food is another reason! La Neta also has a location in the Nørrebro district of Copenhagen on Nørrebrogade 29.

Have you tried La Neta or other Mexican food in Copenhagen? How was your experience?
