Pesky YouTuber Flies Sketchy Legend Airlines, Gets Called Out By Crew

Aviation vlogger Aljoscha Wendholt, popularly known as Josh Cahill, is once again at the center of controversy over his latest airline review, this time of Romanian carrier Legend Airlines. While I respect Cahill’s hustle, he has once again proved that his desperate attempts for clicks deeply undermine his credibility as a serious source of information and even entertainment.

Legend Airlines Crew Call Out Melodramtic YouTuber Over Filming Onboard

Cahill was flying a Legend Airlines Airbus A340-300 from Paris Orly (ORY) to Tunis (TUN). Legend is a Romanian charter carrier. His video is entitled, “Crew tries to SHUT ME DOWN – Onboard Europe’s DODGIEST Airline!”

Is Legend dodgy? It certainly seems that way…the carrier has been accused of human trafficking and Cahill claims the airline is linked to the Taliban in Afghanistan.

But could it be that Cahill is even more dodgy? He boarded, saying, “They had one clear order from management — shut him down, and don’t allow him to film.” But as the video unfolds, that’s not what happens at all. He records his interactions with flight attendants, who do not tell him to stop recording…they simply ask him to respect the privcy of other passengers. That’s reasonable. His response while chatting wth crew?

  • “Nobody will be on the internet or anything like this”
  • “Have I recorded you? I have not recorded you, there is no record of you”
  • “Your privacy is protected, and I have a right to film myself, thank you very much”

Liar….gaslighting at its finest.

This narcissist seeks out controversy and when it does not happen, he manufactures it himself. Sorry dude, I cannot respect that business model.

The Type Of Clickbait Matters

Before you say the pot is calling the kettle black, I want to make an important distinction (one that I’ve made before).

I’m working on adding a video component to Live And Let’s Fly…it will be review-focused, but unique compared to the way Daniel Goz / Sam Chui / Josh Cahill compose their reviews. Stay tuned for details about that…it’s still a ways off due to the other obligations I deal with in my legal work, but there has already been a lot of work put into it.

I post a lot of clickbait here on Live And Let’s Fly, but you will notice it is almost always about passengers who misbehave, not about my experience and assessment of carriers. My reviews are a very serious endeavor, and the photos and commentary are anything but fluff.

One thing that (I hope) distinguishes this brand from others is that I travel a lot and I take my reviews very seriously. I go out of my way to be fair and I realize that a negative flight or hotel review can have very serious consequences concerning the employees or even carriers involved.

Like Cahill, I purchase my own flights and face no editorial controls over the reviews I publish. The airlines do not know that I am coming in advance.

In short, my clickbait is of the non-substantive variety. It is fluff meant to entertain more than to enlighten. I don’t mess around with my reviews and don’t make sweeping judgments or generalizations about a carrier based on one bad flight.

My analysis of flights, hotels, and loyalty programs is serious…the latest misbehaving passenger story, far less so.

I believe that is an important distinction and I hope the very least (as in, a given) I promise you in my words and deed is honesty.

CONCLUSION

Josh Cahill is not a victim…he’s an opportunist. And when he acts the way he does, sorry folks, I’m going to call him out…I still respect him enough to do that. He may be laughing all the way to bank with his flavor of clickbait, but lying to crew members is not cool.
