Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur Has Exceeded My Lofty Expectations

I’ve stayed in high-rise hotels before, but never on the 107th floor! For the first time in my life, I have a five-digit hotel room, indicating I’m on a three-digit floor number.

Merdeka 118 is the second-tallest building in the world after the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The Park Hyatt occupies floor 75 (for the lobby and restaurants), 99 (for the pool, spa, and gym) and floors 100 – 112 for guest rooms. It’s just amazing to look up at that building when you are standing at ground level.

Helpful hotel associates will direct you up an escalator to the first bank of elevators, which will take you to the 75th floor.

I used a “Guest of Honor” award for my stay (essentially, I was treated as a Globalist) and was upgraded to a Park Suite on the 107th floor, a beautiful and spacious room with a large living room, bedroom, dressing room, bathroom, and guest bathroom. The view was amazing and the room so comfortable, with a bed I did not want to get up from and plenty of room to move around (ironic that my best upgrades always come when traveling solo…).

The gym, pool, and spa at this hotel are just fabulous. The pool has sweeping views of Kuala Lumpur and I had it to myself for the entire afternoon (even though I was told the hotel was sold out).

The gym has LifeFitness equipment, which I prefer to the generally more “premium” TechnoGym equipment (though I do think I like the gym at the Hyatt Regency better).

The wellness area has a jacuzzi, steam room, and a “Himalayan Salt Alcove,” which was okay, but I do prefer a traditional sauna instead.

The biggest treat of my stay was breakfast, a true feast with the highest-quality ingredients and a huge buffet and a la carte menu. Jonah, the restaurant manager, was helping out in my section and reccommende sveral dishes. Yes, I even tried local dishes, though the shakshuka was among the best I’ve ever had and the fresh-squeezed juice and coffee were excellent.

I don’t drink alone (sadly, I missed One Mile At A Time by mere hours…), but was impressed by the chocolate-themed hotel bar, which was tastefully decorated.

CONCLUSION

The Grand Hyatt and the Hyatt Regency are both great properties and worthy of a stay in Kuala Lumpur, but the Park Hyatt is a very special hotel in a very special location…without a doubt, I will return here next time I’m in town and look forward to spending several nights here next time.
